2 Lunches Are Better Than One!

We had not 1, but 2 lunches on Christmas Day! First we ate at my Mom and Dad's house, then we at at Daniel's parent's house. We were so fortunate that my cousin Russell and his family were able to come in from Kansas to see us this year.

Santa Came To Our House!!

Christmas started at 5:45am this year. Since it fell on Sunday we had to set our alarm to make sure we had enough time to see what Santa brought and make it to Church.

A Cotton Plant Christmas

We drove to Cotton Plant, Ms to see over 500 inflatables and I don't know how many lights. Daniel gave up his jacket to wrap Ainsley up, so we walked a little faster to see everything. Even though Ainsley was freezing she loved every minute of it!

I went with Ainsley and her class to Disney on Ice. It was the best show we have been to so far. Ainsley was in awe of the ice skaters and loved every minute of the show.

Instead of shopping on Black Friday we drove to Jackson to visit more family. Kathleen, Mike and Logan came in from Nashville and we all met at Reid and Paula's for the day to see everyone. It was a wonderful day and I wish we could do it more often.

We had another wonderful Thanksgiving with lunch at Mimi and Pawpaw's and the Cox supper at our house. I am very thankful to have such a great family to spend Thanksgiving with. We all ate too much of course, but can't wait to do it again in December!!

1st Time Skating

Ainsley went to her first skating party today for Christy Carol and Lexi Grace Smith. She has never had skates on her feet, but caught on really fast. I had the lady tighten the wheels, so they did not go too fast, but they did roll. She took a few practice steps holding my hand, then told me I could go away. She was so proud of herself and I was too!

Ainsley will soon be four years old (on November 27) and we had her 4th birthday party this weekend. She wanted a Tinkerbell party, but we were inviting boys too, so we had a Tinkerbell/Pirate party. I printed out coloring sheets of Tinkerbell, Peter Pan and Captain Hook for them to color, got boxes for them to decorate with stickers as their treasure chests, had beads for them to make necklaces, Gigi made a Pin the Wings on Tinkerbell game and they got to Go Fishing for their goody bags. Ainsley also had the most amazing birthday cake every! Cakes by Rita in Tupelo made her a Tinkerbell cake that was almost too pretty to eat (but we did)! We had a wonderful day with family and friends and were so happy to celebrate our little girl's 4th birthday!

What a wonderful day to spend with family at the pumpkin patch. Ainsley had so much fun playing with Brandon and Carson. They ran from the hay maze to the tire swings and everywhere in between. We had to carry them to the car just to get them to leave.

Buddy Walk 2011

The Westside Regions branch helped again with the 5th annual Northeast Mississippi Down Syndrome Association Buddy Walk in Saltillo. We had a wonderful time working the registration table. I also ran my first 5k and completed it in 30 minutes!

Disney Princesses: Three Fairy Tales

Daniel and I took Ainsley to the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo to see Disney Princesses: Three Fairy Tales. We did not tell her where we were going. She was so excited to find out what her surprise was. When we got inside and she saw all the princess merchandise she kept saying "I can't believe you brought me here". The show was amazing and watching Ainsley's face was priceless! As Ainsley said "That was the bestest show ever!"
(Ainsley sat in my lap most of the time, so I did not get to take any pictures until the end)

The 3 fairy tales were Cinderella, Snow White and Beauty and the Beast.

BIG Surprise!

We had been wanting to get Ainsley a playset for a while, but they are so expensive we had not done anything about it yet. Well, Gigi had a friend that decided to sell a wonderful wooden playset that was only a year and half old. We snatched it up at a great price and set up a date to drive to Olive Branch to get it. Thanks to my Daddy, my Father-In-Law and Daniel, who actually picked it up, brought it home and put it back together, we were the owners of this wonderful playset a week after finding out it was for sale! Ainsley had no idea she was getting it. Daniel told her if she was a really good girl he would get her a BIG surprise. Her response "Please tell me what it is. I won't tell Mama you told me". He did not tell her and it was so worth it. Gigi and I took her to Tupelo with us that Saturday and stayed away all day, so Ainsley would not see what was going on. When we got home Daniel, Papa and Pawpaw were waiting outside with the video camera. I opened the door and she spotted the playset. She ran to her Daddy and hugged him, then hugged Papa and Pawpaw, then she ran straight for the playset. She was so excited and amazed that she has her very own playset. She even ate her supper in her playset that night and played until dark. What a wonderful memory we will have of this day!

Ainsley was given an Amory cheerleader uniform by her Aunt Kelly. It is so cute and she loves to be a cheerleader. Very strange to see her in Amory's black and gold instead of Aberdeen's blue and white, which I wore for 18 years.

1st Day of FBC Amory 3 Year Old Pre-School

Today was Ainsley's first day of 3 year old pre-school at First Baptist Church, Amory. Daniel and I took her this morning and she was so excited to meet new friends. We could drop her off as early as 6:30 if we needed to and for me to make it to Tupelo to work we do have to drop her off early if I am taking her. So we got there right at 7:00 this morning just to make sure we had enough time in case things did not go well. But things started off great! As soon as we got there she saw about 10 kids watching a movie waiting for school to start and ran right over to the group. The lady sitting with them showed us where to put her stuff and Ainsley was so happy to put her backpack and napmat in her room. She gave me a big hug and kiss and ran back to the kids. Daniel was waiting for his hug. When she turned back she realized we were leaving and her cute little lips turned to a sad frown and the tears started flowing from Mama's eyes. I tried to hold it together and smile through my tears. I had to give her back to Daniel and leave because I did not want her to get upset. I then had to drive all the way to Tupelo alone, since my car pooler has grown up too fast for me. I did not cry all the way there, but it's my party (pity party) and I'll cry if I want too. So I made it through the day without calling the school to check on her and they did not call me, so I knew she was very happy. BUT I could not wait for the day to be over, so I could find out how her day went. I finally got back to the church and my little princess was so happy. She had painted a picture for us, colored, played and even had a "science" class to learn what items float and what items sink. She said she had a lot of fun and made a lot of new friends, but could not remember their names. I don't think I could ask for a better first day for my little girl. Thank you God for allowing Ainsley to have a wonderful day and please keep watching over her to keep her safe.

Last Day of Daycare at Mrs. Hudson's

Friday, August 12, 2011 turned out to be Ainsley's unplanned last day at Mrs. Hudson's daycare in Tupelo. She has been with Mrs. Charlotte and Mrs. Mylinda since she was 6 weeks old. I had planned to move her next August (2012) to First Baptist Church, Amory for their 4 year old Pre-K program, but things unexpectedly changed. I got a call from the director letting me know they had some openings in the 3 year old class and they would love to have Ainsley. We felt like we had to make the switch, so Ainsley would get to know the children that she would be in school with in Amory. This was a very emotional decision. I had not been planning it, so I had not prepared myself for change. These women love Ainsley and I trust them to take care of her like I would my family. Needless to say when this all started Thursday I was a basket case, but survived Friday as I picked her up for the last time from the these wonderful ladies that have seen her almost everyday for the past 3 1/2 years. We are excited about FBC Pre-school. Ainsley can't wait to make new friends and meet her new teachers. It will be fun to see what she learns as each day passed in her new school!

July is a busy birthday month for our family. We celebrated Wes' and Paw Paw's birthday Saturday at Mt. Fugi. Ainsley did not have the best experience with the fire from the hibachi last time, so we were worried. She did not love it, but she handled it so much better this time. We had a wonderful evening and filled our bellies with good food!

Ainsley was not excited about Mt. Fugi, but she was fine after the chef put out all the fire and left the hibachi.

We took a few days off work and headed to Florida. It was a wonderful trip with amazing weather. I am not much of a beach person, but it was nice to get away from reality. I really wish I was back there now.

We had The Martin's over for a cookout on Memorial Day. The kids had a great time in Ainsley's kiddie pool and the adults enjoyed Daniel's hamburgers and polish sausages.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day. We went to Church with my parents, then had lunch at our house. I fixed my first roast with carrots, potatoes, rice, macaroni and cheese, rolls and death by chocolate for dessert. We were stuff, but happy!

Daniel gave me Sugarland tickets in January for my 31st birthday. I have to say it was the best birthday present ever! We had an amazing time in Nashville and the concert was unbelievable. I WILL be going to another Sugarland concert one day for sure!

Ainsley's 1st Visit to the Dentist

Today was Ainsley's first visit to Children's Dental Clinic in Tupelo. I was impressed before we even got there because they were kind enough to send Ainsley a book explaining to her what would happen on her visit. The book also had her name printed throughout to personalize the story for her. We had been talking to her for weeks about what would happen at her appointment and she started to get a little scared. We decided not to bring it up for a while, so I was not sure what would happen when we actually got to the office. She did tell me she was a little scared, but once we got in the office she was fine. Children's Dental Clinic had several toys for Ainsley to play with to keep her busy while we were waiting. I told her to listen for her name, so when she was called she was so excited and ran to meet her dental hygienist, Miss Mary. Miss Mary was so sweet and made Ainsley feel right at home. Ainsley got to pick out her very own toothbrush, which was ballerina Dora of course and 2 Tinkerbell stickers. Miss Mary brushed Ainsley teeth, then got her settled in to the dentist chair. Ainsley was a little nervous when the chair started moving, but now she says it is her favorite thing about the entire visit. She also seemed to think the light they pull down was going to fall on her, but was fine once it was in its place. Miss Mary counted all of Ainsley's teeth and let us know she has 20 teeth. After Miss Mary was done Ainsley got to play with more toys for a little bit while waiting on Dr. Warriner. Once Dr. Warriner was ready Ainsley got back in the chair, so he could double check things. He did tell us Ainsley has large baby teeth, which is causing some crowding, but nothing to worry about right now. We will just have to watch them with each visit and see what her permanent teeth do when they start to come in. Overall Ainsley got a great report and was told to come back in 6 months. She left with her new toothbrush, stickers, a pink balloon and a token to get the prize of her choice out of the coin machines, so she picked a new rubber ball. As we left Ainsley told me she liked Dr. Warriner and was not scared of the dentist anymore.

Ainsley was a little nervous when the chair started moving, but Miss Mary reassured her everything would be ok. The next time the chair moved Ainsley was laughing about it.

Memphis Zoo 2011

Daniel, Ainsley, Papa, Gigi and I went to the Memphis Zoo Saturday, February 19, 2011. The weather has been so crazy around here that we took advantage of a beautiful day. It was a perfect day to see the animals and they were happy for us to come visit them. We all had a wonderful time and could not have asked for anything more.

Snow Day 2011

We got a great big snow fall for Mississippi, so of course we had to play! It is really unbelievable that we got snow Christmas day and got even more snow today. This was several inches though and shut down the roads and gave most people a snow day. Yay!!!! It was so nice to be home with Daniel and Ainsley just to play in the snow and not rush to be anywhere all day.

Christmas Snow Angel

It was so exciting to wake up to a white Christmas. Ainsley was thrilled and wanted to make a snow angel immediately. We convinced her to wait and look at what Santa brought and open presents first. She finally got to go outside and would have stayed forever if we would have let her. The snow was a wonderful Christmas gift to receive.

We had a wonderful Christmas. Christmas Eve was spent at Mimi and Pawpaw's house. The family is so big there are presents everywhere, so your lucky to find a seat.
Christmas day started with us waking Ainsley up at 7:30. We asked her if she wanted to see what Santa brought and she barely moved. Then Ainsley heard Daniel say "It's snowing" and she popped out of the bed and ran to the window to see the snow. She told us she wanted to go outside and make a snow angel. We convinced her to stay inside for a while and see what Santa brought. Then Mimi and Pawpaw stopped by to see what Santa brought too. Gigi and Papa came over to have breakfast and we opened presents with them. Ainsley and Daniel played in the snow for a while, then off to Oyce's for lunch and dinner at my parents with the Coxes. Ainsley played all day with cousins and did not want to go home.
We are so grateful to have such a fabulous family and the ability to see so many of them for Christmas.

We went to the mall to see Santa, but when we got there Santa did not have his glasses on. Ainsley said she did not want to sit with him without his glasses, so we left. I got her to go back later to see if we could get a picture. Thankfully we went back by and he had his glasses on then. Ainsley said "Santa has his glasses on, so I will take a picture with him now."

Ainsley wanted a pony party, so we had a Western themed party for her 3rd birthday. We are so lucky that my Uncle Richard has horses and was able to bring Rudy over for the event. My Mom made her wonderful "Sullivan Family Cookies" in the shape of cowboy boots and cowboy hats. They were too cute and as Ainsley said "those cookies are great"! We had a wonderful day. The weather was perfect and the kids had a blast riding Rudy and jumping in the bounce house. Ainsley was so happy to have her friends from daycare and family come to her party.

The 3 of us went with Aunt Kelly and Ann Elise to Oasis in Amory for Breakfast with Santa. Ainsley loved Santa this year!! I was so happy that she wanted to talk to him and not run away. She told him she wanted a doll house for Christmas, but Santa was a little hard of hearing and thought she wanted a dog house. He even asked her if she wanted a big dog house or a little dog house. I think we got him straightened out, so he will deliver the right thing.

The Pokey ( I mean Smokey) Mountains

Daniel, Ainsley, Gigi, Papa and I took a nice vacation to the Pokey Mountains(as Ainsley calls them)in early October. We stayed in a different cabin than we normally do and it was actually up the mountain. The cabin was very nice, but we will not be staying there again because it was pretty scary trying to drive at night on those winding roads and steep cliffs. We also visited the Knoxville Zoo, which was a wasted day. Sadly the animals were few and far between and very sleepy. No matter what it was a wonderful break from our regular routine and we would gladly go back any day. Thanks Gigi and Papa for taking us back to the mountains.

Need ice cream cones, oatmeal cookies, candy corn, mini m&m's and chocolate icing.

Fill half way with candy corn, then put chocolate icing around rim of cone and place cookie on top of cone.

Sit flat to harden.

Line rim of hat with icing, then stick small m&m's or other small candy around rim.

Make as many as you want.

Bag 'em up and send 'em to daycare.

We had a great time at the pumpkin patch in Caledonia today and could not have asked for better weather. They have a big trailer of cotton to jump in, a hay maze, a corn box (like a sand box, but full of corn) and a hay ride. Ainsley would have stayed in the corn box all day long if we would let her.

AHS Class of '97, '98 and '99 Reunion

We had an Aberdeen High School class reunion for the Class of '97, '98 and '99 at the Aberdeen Country Club September 4, 2010. Classmates and spouses totaled about 50 people, so it was a small crowd, but a lot of fun. The food and the band were great and it was wonderful to visit with everyone.

Gigi and Papa were in Hawaii on Gigi's actual birthday, so we had supper for her when they got home.
