She's 30 Too!

Happy 30th Birthday Jodie!

Jodie is one of my best friends from college. Our birthday's are only a few days apart and our little girls are only a few months apart. Well, Jodie's husband, Jamie, surprised her with a Hummer Limo and a trip to Memphis last night to eat at Texas de Brazil. Several couples met up with the limo, then road to their house to pick up a very surprised birthday girl! We had a great time with great friends and great food. Jodie, I am so glad we have been friends for 10 years and I can't wait to see what happens in the next 10 years. Happy Birthday!!

2 Year Old Pictures

I took Ainsley to Olan Mills back in November to get some (less expensive) pictures taken to document what she looks like at 2 years old. I finally framed some of them today, so now I have to decide where to hang another picture collage of her.

2 Year Old Check-up

Ainsley had her 2 year old check-up back in December, but I never posted her stats. So here they are:

Height 36.25 inches
Weight 28 lbs
Head 48 cm

I Am Not In My Twenties Anymore!

Today I left my twenties behind (even if they were my late twenties) and turned THIRTY! It does not bother me to be thirty, but it is strange to say it out loud. I feel like I just got my drivers license the other day, just graduated from high school, just went to college, just graduated from college, just got married and just had a baby. Even though a lot of time has gone by, it just does not feel like it has been enough time for all of this to have happened already. I have had and do have a wonderful life. I can't wait to see what happens in the next ten years!

Papa, Gigi, Me, Daniel and Ainsley at my parents house last night for my birthday supper.

I am modeling the pretty scarf that my Mom and Dad gave me, while Ainsley opens my other presents.

Ainsley wanted to wear my scarf, but not take a picture.

Daniel gave me a new camera!! I am so excited about this. I have been very unhappy with the camera I have. I can't wait to learn how to use this one.

Potty Training 101

I had decided when Ainsley turned 2 that I would try to potty train after Christmas, so Ainsley and I started potty training Friday. Everything I read said this should take 3 days to get her started on this new lifestyle, but I took off Friday, so I could have 4 days (I'm a banker, so I get MLK Day on Monday). Ainsley has been very interested in going to the bathroom with me and anyone else who will let her go with them, so I had high hopes. She tells me when she needs to get a dry pull up, so I really thought it would not be so bad. After 10 pairs of wet little girl panties Friday I thought this was hopeless. I kept wondering if I was wasting my time. Should I quit now? Should I keep trying? Maybe she's not as ready as I thought she was. Maybe I am the one who is ready, not her. As you can see I had a lot of doubt. But I stuck it out all day Friday and she did manage to use the potty twice. I was happy when it was bedtime though, so I could put her in a diaper. I was worn out and stressed out! But guess what... Saturday got here very quickly, so we started again. I was still very unsure that I was doing the right thing. Maybe I was pushing her to use the potty too early. But to my surprise she did use the potty first thing Saturday morning, but after that she seemed to decide not to use the bathroom at all. I got her to go again right before nap time. I felt like I was trying to pump any kind of liquid into her that she wanted just to fill up her bladder. I don't know what happened to her after nap time, but something finally clicked and she started telling me she had to use the potty. She went on her own 3 times before it was time to go to bed again! I was so happy I/we stuck with it. I really wanted to throw in the towel multiple times. I was not having fun and just wanted to get out of the house. I think Ainsley wanted to leave the house just as badly as I did. Not only were we potty training, but Ainsley decided she would like to get a cold and little fever, but we kept plugging away as if nothing was wrong. Sunday she still remembered she had to use the potty b/c she is wearing big girl panties instead of the diaper. We even ventured out to run some errands Sunday afternoon. She wore a pull up then, but at the first stop she told me she had to use the potty and we made it to the bathroom for her to make her pit stop. After that we were able to finish all our errands and made it home with a dry pull up!! I know this is an on-going project, but as of now I would say our potty training is a SUCCESS!

2010 & Home Sick!

We have been so fortunate that Ainsley is not a sickly child, but I got a call from daycare yesterday to come get her. She was the lucky one to catch the stomach bug from one of the little boys who goes there! So I picked her up around 2:30 yesterday afternoon and kept her home today. I hate that her stomach is bothering her, but she has been so sweet all day and just wanted to sit with me and have me hold her. We are keeping her home Wednesday too, so hopefully she did not already pass it on to any other kids (but we can blame any other illness on the original sick boy right). Daniel will get his chance for her to only want him all day Wednesday, since it is his turn to stay home with her. I just hope that we don't get it from her. Wouldn't that be fun!
